Fixing what AI says about an AI travel startup: the first 30 days

The challenge

  • The product's own machine-readable pricing file was out of date: it listed the wrong plans and shifted paid benefits between tiers, so assistants that read it stated wrong facts about it.
  • On buyer questions that never name the product (best AI trip planner, how to stop overpaying on flights), assistants recommended the big travel brands and never this one.
  • A thin third-party footprint: few of the travel roundups and review platforms AI assistants lean on had ever covered the product.

What we did

Measure first

A 25-prompt buyer panel established the baseline: visibility 45/100 on Claude, the product named on 40% of prompts, facts about it right only half the time. Every later claim traces to a re-run of that same panel.

Fix the source

Corrected llms.txt to the real three-plan pricing, added full structured data (Organization, SoftwareApplication with Offers, FAQ), shipped a real company page and disclosures, standardized the canonical host, and published comparison and buyer-intent pages.

Start distribution

Ten personalized pitches to the travel and deal roundups assistants actually cite, plus entity profiles and review-platform claims kicked off with the founder. Citations land on a 2 to 4 week lag by nature, so this phase matures past day 30.

The outcome

Day 30, measured on the same panel: visibility on Claude rose from 45 to 66, mention rate from 40% to 53%, and share of voice from 29% to 49%. Measurement also expanded to a second engine: Perplexity, which reads the live site when answering, came in at 67/100 on its first reading.

What has not moved yet, reported just as plainly: answer accuracy is still 50%. The wrong facts are gone from the source, but assistants and the third-party sources they lean on have not fully picked up the corrections, and unprompted questions still go to bigger brands. That is the distribution work the next phase exists for.

How we measured: 25-prompt buyer panel in Sightline's Scope platform; baseline June 30, 2026 on Claude only; day 30 on July 29, 2026 on Claude and Perplexity (mention and share-of-voice figures at day 30 pool both engines). Single monthly runs, so movement is directional. No results are guaranteed; we commit to the work and to reporting numbers exactly as measured.
